June 2024 Newsletter

Updated: Jun 6

A Message from Mark:

Muli Mutya (Greetings) from Kitende, Uganda to all of our wonderful Renew Uganda Initiative (RUI) partners.  If I did not get a chance to meet with you personally while I was visiting the States, please forgive me.  There are so many things God is doing right now on both sides of the ocean that I am literally feeling overwhelmed.

There is an African proverb which says, "Go alone and go fast.  Go together and go far." We now are poised to go farther (and faster) with RUI than ever before!

In the last few months, God has brought together amazing RUI teams, both in Uganda and in the US. In Uganda we now have the RUI Founders, the RUI Board, and the RUI Uganda Team. In the US we now have not only a Board, but also an incredible Marketing Team!  (Click on the hyperlinks!)

Our RUI Vision is "The Complete Biblical Transformation of Uganda through Christian Education" and God is graciously bringing together the right people to accomplish His work. To Him be all the glory!

Mukama akuwe omukisa,

Mark

Three Cooking Stones

Similar to pillars that have held up classical structures for thousands of years, cooking stones are foundational to millennia-old food preparation techniques in Africa. Supporting the ovens that rest upon them, each cooking stone is essential for perfect balance. The Renew Uganda Initiative has expanded its original work of Empowering current educators to now include two additional “stones,” Uniting and Educating.

EMPOWERING

The daily training of educators throughout Uganda in Biblical foundations and integration, discipleship, Socratic teaching, and best practices for gospel transformation and pedagogical excellence

UNITING

Bringing together Ugandan educators through forums, regional and national conferences, and regular school visits for the purpose of worship, strategic planning, advocacy, and networking

EDUCATING

Providing current and future educators with gospel-centered educational training materials and teaching within the framework of Christian Ugandan universities

How to Turn $500 into $1.7 Million

For those of you looking for an excellent return, invest $500 into the Renew Uganda Initiative's Workshop for School Leaders and Teachers next week and see it turn into 1.7 million (UGX shillings)! In partnership with ACSI, the June 13 Workshop is a day-long training of 125 administrators representing a group of 54 schools from several remote villages. The total expenses are $1,300 (UGX 4.7 million shillings). Your contribution of any amount will provide the attendees with training materials, lunch and refreshments. Your earthly investment will reap eternal rewards!

The Semi-Annual Uganda Christian Education Forum launched by the Renew Uganda Initiative is scheduled for June 29th! The Forum will be held at the Watoto School Bbira in Kampala. Plenary Speakers include Reverand Canon Dr Paul Kakooza (Director of Educational Services – Church of Uganda), Dr Kedrace Turyagyenda (Education Policy Review Commission), Mrs Rose Izizinga (Education Service Commission) and Pastor Ken Kanzairwe (Pastor – MarketPlace Ministry – Watoto Church). Please join the RUI Team Uganda in praying every day this month for the success of this educational gathering.

The inaugural Uganda Christian Education Forum held June 17, 2023, at the Grand Global Hotel in Kampala (above), hosted 30 attendees. This year 80 attendees are gathering at the Watoto School Bbira, marking an 167% growth in size and exponential growth in impact!

In March, Mark Guthrie, accompanied by RUI Board member Ruth Senyonjo, met with Mrs. Rose Izizinga from the Uganda Ministry of Education (above). They discussed a gathering of top Uganda government educational leaders at the Uganda Christian Education Forum, to be held in June at the Watoto School Bbira.  Rose may be soon coming on the RUI Board. What a powerful collaboration!

Mark meets with the leaders of Word of Life International School weekly to develop their classical Christian education philosophy, discuss Biblical servant leadership, and pray about major school issues.

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.
