Mrs Izizinga has been a Member of the Education Service Commission since November 2018. She holds a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Literature and a Diploma in Education from Makerere University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Education for Sustainability from London South Bank University, and is a Templeton Fellow in Gifted and Talented Education.
Rose has 45 years’ experience in the education sector, with 37.5 years in secondary schools as a teacher of Literature in English, Deputy Headteacher and Headteacher, and 7 at policy level. She served at Namasagali College, St. Balikuddembe Secondary School, and as Headteacher of St. Peter’s Secondary School Nkokonjeru, Christ the King Secondary School Bulinda, Makerere College School and Kitante Hill School, where she retired.
She was the first woman Chairperson of the National Association of Secondary School Headteachers of Uganda (2006 to 2012), and is now one of its three Trustees. In 2008 she became the first woman President of the African Confederation of Principals and represented Uganda on the International Confederation of Principals.
An ASHOKA ChangeLeader and British Council-validated Master Trainer, Rose has facilitated trainings in leadership, organisational development, 21st-century teaching and learning, strategic planning and andragogy. She served on the Uganda Law Council for 19 years and chaired the Board of FAWE Uganda Chapter (2009 to 2015). She is passionate about Christ and God-centred, inclusive, socially transformational education.
