What is a Renewal Gathering?

Teaching can be lonely work. Many educators in Uganda serve in schools far from colleagues who share their faith and their calling, with few opportunities for ongoing professional growth. Renewal Gatherings exist to change that.

Sub-regional hubs across Uganda

Renewal Gatherings are sub-regional educational hubs operating within 14 strategically identified areas of Uganda. Each hub brings together Christian head teachers, teachers and school administrators from its area.

What happens at a gathering

Every Renewal Gathering combines three elements:

1. Spiritual renewal. Worship, Scripture and prayer that refresh educators in their calling.
2. Professional development. Practical training in teaching, leadership and school improvement.
3. Collaborative learning. Time for educators to share challenges, ideas and solutions with peers who understand their context.

Like all our work, the gatherings are shaped by the RUI Anchors: integration, innovation, application and collaboration.

Why local matters

Because the hubs are sub-regional, educators do not have to travel to the capital to be encouraged and equipped. Relationships formed at a gathering continue long after it ends, creating a lasting local network of Christian educators who support one another.
